AEP

What does AEP stand for?

AEP stands for the ‘association of educational psychologists’.

What is the AEP?

The AEP is the professional association for educational psychologists in the UK and is exclusive to trainee and qualified educational psychologists. Membership is not compulsory for educational psychologists; some of our members choose to be members of the AEP as it is a trade union that promotes and protects educational psychology as a profession. All our psychologists are members of the HCPC.

Who can join the AEP?

Only qualified educational psychologists and trainee educational psychologists on the doctorate course are eligible to become a member of the AEP.

What does the AEP do?

The AEP assists in the training of educational psychologists to maintain a high standard of qualifications and to secure an acceptable form of self-government for the profession. The AEP works to raise the status of educational psychologists and to ensure that those working as educational psychologists are fully qualified to do so. The AEP also promotes the development and wellbeing of children and young people.
