Correctional services and youth offending teams

Our psychology services can be commissioned within correctional facilities and young offenders institutes for individuals up to the age of 25.

What services do we carry out?

We carry out a broad range of services, including specific assessments and interventions. There are many young people within correctional services who have specific educational needs or disabilities. These needs may not have been identified previously, which could be the underlying cause for the young person’s conduct.

Who is in our team?

Within our team we have educational, counselling and clinical psychologists. Clinical and counselling psychologists have extensive experience working with complex social, emotional and mental health difficulties. Educational psychologists specialise in education and learning, and use this knowledge to increase an individual’s capacity to learn.

Meet the team

We believe in the importance of an evidence-based approach that is both professional and cost effective. We value our team’s ability to provide a broad range of services and share specialist knowledge.

Why is assessment important?

When an individual has been assessed their needs can be identified. Once needs have been identified or met the change within a young person can be monumental. To ensure that needs are identified as quickly as possible, we provide immediate access to our team. An explanation for feelings or past reactions to events can allow students to continue life with adaptive and positive behaviours, although changing the pattern of a lifetime is not a quick or easy task. Our specialist psychology team will provide guidance and advice to maximise the chances for young people to fulfil their potential in addition to carrying out interventions.

Do we provide consultancy services?

Our consultancy services help put effective processes in place to provide young people with the skills they need to be happy, safe and ready to face life’s challenges.

What are the benefits of using our services?

Correctional services and youth offending teams are working with young people who have unidentified and unmet psychological needs, and specialist psychological input would bring many benefits. Benefits of using our cost effective service include:

Individuals in correctional services and youth offending teams require support and guidance in order to reach their potential. Identifying needs and using that information to design a plan of action can make a huge difference to the young people in your setting.
