A zones of regulation intervention brings a range of benefits for the individual, including:
Following a zones of regulation intervention, you will be provided with recommendations for giving the child or young person further support. Our recommendations are useful for ensuring that the zones of regulation techniques are maintained outside of the intervention setting.
A zones of regulation interventioncan be recommended after an initial discussion. You can see our process below.
During a zones of regulation intervention, the individual will work with the HSR professional to identify triggers or times of overwhelming emotions. The individual will then be taught about the four zones of regulation which is a visual system they can use to recognise their emotional state. The individual will work closely with the HSR Psychology specialist in practising how to stay in a certain zone and how to move between zones. The child or young person will usually be taught effective strategies to use when emotions become overwhelming so that they can move to a more appropriate zone. The child or young person will be encouraged to practice the zones of regulation strategies between each session and reflect on the effectiveness during sessions.
Once the intervention is complete, the individual will be able to use effective techniques for recognising and addressing overwhelming emotions. Follow-up sessions may be suggested after zones of regulation intervention. Outcomes from the intervention can either be provided via a feedback session, or, if need be, a written report. We will support you through the whole intervention process; that is why we offer follow up support support to you post-intervention.
A report is something we always recommend following an intervention. A report includes what took place, our impact, and future recommendations. We offer a comprehensive report after a zones of regulation intervention highlighting effective coping strategies. You can Read more about our reports here.
Arrange an initial discussion to find out how we can benefit your education setting. The initial discussion lasts 2 hours and is a starting point to identify needs. The cost is £260.
