A positive psychology approach can be very beneficial for the young person, in ways such as:
Following a positive psychology approach there will be some recommendations that you can use for supporting the young person by implementing elements of positive psychology into their lives.
After the initial discussion, a positive psychology approach can then be carried out. Please see our process below.
During a positive psychology approach, we will encourage the child, teen or young adult to think about what aspects of life they enjoy and how they can enhance and indulge in these experiences. To promote positive aspects of life, the individual may be asked to use methods like keeping a gratitude diary. A big focus of a positive psychology approach will be on the individual’s strengths, the HSR Psychology specialist may use tools like strength cards to help identify and apply these strengths. A positive psychology approach can be used in combination with other interventions and can be carried out in various settings.
After a positive psychology approach the individual will have learned to use effective strategies to change their perspective on life for the better. Following a positive psychology approach it may be useful to go forward with follow up sessions, if required. Outcomes from a positive psychology approach can be provided through either a feedback session, or a short report written by us if required.
We will always recommend a HSR Psychology report following an intervention. Our reports include what took place and how this affected the young person. As well as this, there is a summary of recommendations for the future. These reports are available after a positive psychology approach highlighting strategies for boosting optimism. Reasons for requesting a positive psychology approach vary, and if a written report is not deemed necessary then feedback can be provided during a conversation with a brief summary. Find out more about our reports.
